BEATING THE HEAT THIS SUMMER WITH YOUR PRESCHOOLERS

Finding activities for three different aged children in the middle of summer after days of inside play can be challenging. This whole week has been hot, really hot - 45C and above so too hot for us to be outside even in the shade. This activity was the perfect hot weather invitation to play!

This activity does require some prep ahead of time but it's very simple. Just fill as many containers as you can fit in your freezer with water. Leave overnight or longer.

To play, simply remove the ice blocks from your freezer and add them to a large tub with enough water to make the ice float.

Add your plastic animals (we love our Schleich animals and they have certainly withstood plenty of play) and no-one will be complaining about being hot or want to go inside.

Earlier in the week, we'd been to the beach to play.

This invitation is equally simple to set up.

Fill a shallow tub about 3/4 full with beach sand. This lot just came from our sand pit.

Add a jug of coloured water, rocks, glass gems and Happy Land people.

My three children were happy to play in this pretend small world all afternoon!
